Twisting, narrow Limburg roads and a relentless menu of short climbs make Amstel a race of constant repositioning.

The Cauberg’s role has evolved from final launchpad to earlier selection tool, but it still shapes the finale alongside Geulhemmerberg, Bemelerberg and a dozen stingers that sap snap from sprinters.

Drafting value is modest on these roads; teams must stay in front all day to avoid accordion losses. Winners tend to have Ardennes punch plus a sharp sprint from a small group, or the nerve to attack before the final climb and commit fully.
